At the heart of the Culinary Institute of the Philippines is Chef Beatres Alvarez-White, fondly known as Chef Bee—a proud Waray, accomplished culinary professional, and the school’s Head Chef Instructor and Chief Operating Officer.
From the very first day of the Culinary Institute of the Philippines, Chef Nelson Legaspi Cochero has been an integral part of our journey. Hailing from Brgy. San Roque, Mayorga, Leyte, Chef Nelson brings over 27 years of rich culinary experience to our kitchen classrooms, shaping the next generation of Filipino culinary professionals with skill, passion, and heart.
A seasoned chef with a deep commitment to culinary excellence, Chef Nelson has served in key roles at prestigious establishments such as Oriental Resort and Hotels (now Tropics), Avior Hotel, and Jasmin Beach Resort, where he currently works as a consultant. His expertise is further honed by his ongoing training as a TESDA Trainor's Methodology NC I Scholar and his foundation as a Food and Beverage scholar under Congressman Martin Romualdez in 2012.
Chef Nelson is also a proud member of various culinary organizations, including the Eastern Visayas Chef Society of the Philippines, International Cuesin Gourmet (Mixeco), and Culinary Arts Cheftag of the Philippines, reflecting his deep connection to both local and international culinary communities.
With unwavering dedication and a lifelong passion for the culinary arts, Chef Nelson continues to inspire our students not just to cook—but to lead, innovate, and thrive in the ever-evolving world of food.
